Thursday December 31, 2009

Here is my last post for the year. I have quite a lot to get in here so this will probably be a long one. First off here is my progress for Snowflake:

I'm hoping to have it finished by the end of next week. After I finish this I'm taking a break for a couple of days to knit a hat & scarf for my daughter.

I was asked to help mod a forum I'm on a lot (okay more like almost all the time ) & they have a gift exchange between all the mods. I received some wonderful gifts! Thanks e
veryone!
Now onto my goals for 2010!
Finishes:
1. Stargazer
2. Two Hearts Beating As One
3. Boo Club
4. ToT Fairy

I want to be close to finishing:
1. Firefly Fairies
2. Winter Spirit Fairy

That's it on the craft side. Things are going well on the home front. Hubby & I took the kids sledding & snowboarding on Tuesday. We all had lots of fun. I even tried out the snowboard! Today we're staying home like usually & celebrating with the kids! We have hats & lots of poppers! Tomorrow we're going to my sister's house & exchanging gifts with my side of the family. We're bringing sweet potatoes, some cookies & pumpkin rolls. A nice way for everyone to end their break.
I hope everyone has a Great New Year! Stay safe!

December 21, 2009

It's been another long week. Trying to finish up all the Christmas stuff that needs done. We still have a few people we have to buy for. We're going out tonight when Hubby gets home from work. The kids are off of school & I told them we'd make Christmas cookies today.
I've gotten a lot done on Snowflake. If I get it finished before the weekend then I'm going to stitch on Winter Fairy for the PR sal.

December 16, 2009

Thinks have been pretty nuts around here. I went to my 2 week check up for my surgery. My doctor said that everything looks good & recovery is going well. Just have to wait for everything to finish healing so I may still be sore for awhile longer.
Monday my Mom's best friend's husband died from a heart attack while he was sleeping. It was quite a shock. It looks like her friend won't be able to keep the house so Mom is going to have to move out here soon. (Luckily it probably won't be until after the holidays.) So the last couple of days I've really been fighting with my depression. The worst part for Mom in dealing with all of this is that today's her birthday on top of it.

Now on to some happier news, cross stitch!

I've got some nice progress on my snowflake. I'm not as far along as I wanted to be though. So now I have to kick my but into overdrive to get it finished on time. Here's my progress so far:
Have you seen Nora's newest release? I just love it! Sabrina. I'm thinking about putting her on EF's Dragon Mist. I think she would be gorgeous!

Hope everyone is doing well. Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas to everyone!

Monday December 7, 2009

Progressing in the recovery from surgery. I think I over did it a little yesterday though. Getting everything ready for Christmas over here. We're having a Christmas Cookie Recipe Exchange on Sunday & some Christmas Crafts for the kids. I can't wait it should be a blast!
I finished up my Christmas ornaments. The party for Blueberry Hill is on Wednesday. I think VCE turned out beautifully. The ornie even looks a bit Victorian.
I started on Joan Elliot's Christmas Stocking Design on Charles Craft Stocking.
But then I decided to make something for Great Aunt Phyl. I decided on Chatelaine's Snowflake. I'm going to make it into a pillow using Grandma's fabric & lace that I got after she passed away.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Tuesday December 1, 2009

Recovering okay from surgery. Still a little sore & hard to sit for awhile. I finished up my goals for November. I finished stitching both ornaments. Now I just have to sew them. I should have them in the mail by Thursday or Friday by the latest.
The holiday weekend went well & everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I'll post more later when I can sit for longer.

It's been a few weeks since my last post. Hubby & I went to Vegas for a convention that his work sent him to. We had a great time. It was so nice to be able to get a week away from life & relax a little! Bob (a co-worker of Hubby's) & his wife also came along. It was nice to get to spend the week with them & to get to know them better! ( I got to see Ka Cirque de Soliel. It was amazing!!!)
I go in for surgery tomorrow at 10:30. It's a scope so I'm supposed to be back to normal activities in a couple of days. Not sure if Mom & I are going to do Black Friday but I'm hoping to go for at least a little bit. It is always a lot of fun.
The kids both made honor roll last grading period! I am so proud of them & the hard work they put into it.

Now onto cross stitch. I got the bottom part of ToT Fairy done & am working on the swirls at the bottom of the pattern. I finished my first ornament & am working on the second. On is for the Buckeye Stitcher ornie exchange & the other is for the Blueberry Hill Christmas party.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Thursday November 5,2009

It's been a long week so far. I was feeling low yesterday as Hubby was out of town on my birthday. But he sent me some very beautiful flowers; roses & lilies. My favorites!
I got more done on ToT Fairy for the sal. I am having a blast on her & don't want to put her down! I'm am bummed about next week though as I won't get to stitch on her.
Not sure if I'm going to get a chance to post next week as Hubby & I are going to Vegas!!! Hubby's work is sending him to a seminar/classes (?) for the week. Since work is paying for the seminar, hotel, food & his class all we had to pay was for the air fare for me to go along. I am so excited! I have everything pack & ready to go. Just need for him to get home from where work sent him this week so I can wash & pack his stuff. I will post again as soon as I can.

Monday November 2, 2009

The kids had a great time over the Halloween weekend. Maria had her school party & parade. She went as a witch. I helped out at her class. I love seeing the kids (& teachers costumes)! One of the teachers went as Max from Where the Wild Things Are. Paul went to school as a soldier. They had a school dance during the day & from what he said he had a blast.

On Halloween Hubby took Maria around the neighborhood & Paul went with a bunch of friends. I stayed at the house to hand out candy. We only got a couple of kids down the street but the other streets were packed. We had a couple of lucky kids though as we gave out half bags of candy to those kids so we wouldn't have so much left over.
Sunday Hubby left for another work trip to SC. Hopefully his work will have these problems fixed soon & he can stay home for awhile.

Onto cross stitching: I finished up pumpkin on Boo Club & am now catching up the border.
I started working on my ornaments for some exchanges I'm in.

October 26th, 2009

Paul's football team lost their playoff game on Saturday. He was so upset. But the coach had those kids wound way too tight. They were all so scared off making a mistake. I felt bad for those kids but I think their coaches got what they deserved. (If they would of won we would of had to forfeit anyways as not all the kids got their 10 plays. In fact 3 of the kids hadn't even gotten to play until Hubby started yelling at the director about there being less than 2 minutes in the game & having kids that hadn't gotten to play yet.) Then one of the other parent got made because "we were giving up by just letting anybody play". I mean come on it's an instructional league & all kids are supposed to be guaranteed playing time. If you're that worried about it maybe you should move your kid to a premiere league. Hubby & I have agreed that this spring we're moving the kids do a different organization.
On Sunday we took the kids to the pumpkin farm by my MIL's house. They had a blast! You can see the pics here: http://s411.photobucket.com/albums/pp196/mgrutz1998/Halloween%2009/

Now onto stitching. I'm flying through Boo Club! Going to keep with it this week & hope I can finish it up by Saturday. This weekend was the PR sal weekend. I did get some done but not as much as I wanted as I sprained my wrist working out in the yard on the leaves. The worst part is is that 2 days later the yard didn't even look touched.

Thursday Ocotber 22, 2009

Didn't post my progress of ToT Fairy yet. I got the bottom of the skirt all done. That took longer than I thought it would. On Monday I'm going to finish up the wording & (hopefully) get her legs finished as well. Here she is so far:

ToT Fairy 007

Yesterday I went to my first live sal at my lns Blueberry Hill Stitchery. I had a blast! Can't wait till next month.

Monday October19, 2009

How was everyone's week. Hubby got back Thursday night so I got my pics downloaded. First off I'll update my picture with the one from my camera. Here's Stargazer:
Last week I worked on Boo Club. I got some good progress done on it! I finished Spiders & Eek!, and started on Creepy. This one is really starting to fly along. I do have to try & figure something out for the spider web though as it's hard to see. I might also have to do something for the grave stone is Creepy but I'm going to wait until I have the grass done to see how it looks.

Sorry about the pic. I took it with my phone. I'll post a better pic next time.

Weekly Update 10/13/2009

Hubby is out of town for work for the week & took the laptop with him. So I can't download my pics from the camera so I had to take this weeks pics from my phone & send them to me. So I'm apologizing now for the quality of the pics. But on the upside I can get more stitching in while his gone.

I'm almost ready to put some more beads into Star Gazer. She is going to be stunning! I can't wait to finish her. I think I'm going to do my ornament for the exchange & then my next installment on Boo Club then back to her!

I got a good bit done on ToT Fairy. My goal was to finish the bottom of the dress (which I didn't do ) But I can finish that & start on the legs next Monday.

See everyone next week.

October 7th, 2009 Update

Didn't get a change to update yesterday. I went on a field trip with my son's class yesterday. We went to a local wetland's reserve. It was a blast! The kids were so excited, they couldn't stop asking questions! It's so neat to see kids wanting to learn! The teachers were awesome! They were so into it & just as excited as the kids were. I am really stuffy from my allergies being out around so many allergens for so long, but I'm really glad I went!
Know onto the stichy! I did a pretty good job on ToT. Next week I want to finish up the bottom of her dress. With out any more delay her she is:
I decided to pull out Stargazer for this weeks rotation.

Weekly update 10/5/2009

I've gotten some good progress on Two Hearts. That one is moving right along. I should be finished with the 2nd Crane in one more week. Then I can start on the border!Today is ToT Fairy sal for EF. I'll post my progress for that tomorrow. Not sure what I'm going to stitch tomorrow for the next week. I'll let you know what I decide tomorrow. Hope everyone has some good stitching time!

Weekly update 9/29/2009

Okay, with the sal being on Monday I have decided to post my weekly updates in Tuesdays.
Last week was a busy week! I finished Luna Fairy!!!! I framed her yesterday.
I started Winter Fairy for the PR monthly sal. I started her on Friday, wasn't sure about the colors. The floss toss looked fine but once I started stitching I just didn't like it. On Saturday Hubby agreed that it didn't look right. So Hubby & I went through my fabric & we decided to switch the fabby for Spring & Winter around. So I'm now stitching Winter on Rain Forest & Spring on Lily Pad (both by EF). So I pulled out all the stitching that I had done on Friday & started on the new fabby. I think I got some good progress done on her for 2 days.

Monday was the EF sal. Things were really busy though. I picked Mom up from the collision center. We went to Pat Catan's so I could get my mounting board & matte for Luna. Then we stopped at the local Harley store looking for a birthday gift for Hubby. By the time I got Mom home & back to my house Maria had gotten out of school so I didn't get any time in while waiting for her. I did some cleaning around the house & managed to get about a half an hour in before we had to go get Paul. It was really cold out this evening so I didn't stitch as much as I usually do. I did get about another hour in after we got home.
This week I'm going back to 2 Hearts. Haven't decided about this weekend. Maybe I'll work on Spiders for Boo Club.

Just put the finishing touches on her today!!! She is stitched on 32ct Linen. Night by SMF.

Starting PR's Winter Fairy for the PR weekend sal now. Monday is ToT Fairy for the EF sal. Tuesday is back to 2 Hearts for hopefully another finish soon.

Here's is a close up of her face. Gorgeous!

Weekly update for 9/21/2009

Things have been going pretty well here. I am really close to finishing up Luna Fairy! I'm going to keep pushing her until I finish it up wich should be some time this week. Just need to finish the wings, the top of the moon & then backstitch.

Worked some more yesterday on ToT Fairy. I finished out the center part of her skirt. Next week I can finish the rest of her skirt & hopefully be able to work on her legs as well.

Trick or Treat Fairy

I started my ToT Fairy for the sal yesterday. I got 4 hours of stitching in! She is stiching up pretty fast. I think she is going to look great on this fabby! The shades of browns just jump off of the fabby!

I am going to do one more week on Luna Fairy. Hope fully I can get a lot closer to finishing her (if I can't get her done by then )

Weekly Update for 9/14/2009

I had a pretty good week. I got really far on Luna Fairy & I finished up Black Cat on the Boo Club. This week I start ToT Fairy on the EF sal on Mondays. Tuesday I go back to 2 Hearts for the rest of the week. I picked out my fabric for PR's Winter Fairy. I'm going to stitch her on EF's Lilypad (new color). However I was strong & didn't start her, eventhough I was very tempted. I also brought up Holland so I can start part 1. I need to go get the floss I need for that. Trying to be strong & not start that one either. I'm thinking that if I can knock Luna Fairy & 2 Hearts off the list I'll pull out Stargazer & start Holland.

Paul goes back to football this week. In fact I'm picking up his release from the doctors in a little bit. Hubby & I have been trying to do the yard work. Hubby has been trying to iron out the details with the Landy Lady for a land contract. As soon as he does when can start fixing up the yard!

I'm planning on posting my start on ToT Fairy tomorrow.

Weekly update 9/8/2009

Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. We went on our usual camping trip to Salt Fork. The kids love going down there & get so excited when the time gets close. I had a so-so week. with Hubby being gone I got a lot of stitching time in. But a lot of that was frogging & fixing. Makes me want to pull my hair out as a lot of it was off by one square. (One of these days I learn to count properly :P)
I was working on the wing on 2 hearts when I realized that that one was off by one square so I pulled it all out & re did it.
Got some more on the wing & the moon done on Luna Fairy.
Tried to put some time in on Dawn. I just couldn't really do it. I think I'm going to scrap it & start one of the seasonal fairies.
I went back to Boo Club for over the holiday weekend. Boy did that take a lot more time then I thought it would. I decided to redo the "treats" part as I had placed it too far to the left & it was in front of the border. I also found a floss at my LNS that I liked a lot more than the yellow for the inside border, so I ripped that out & redid it. When I put in the bottom border of the treats I didn't put in enough & had to redo it. It took me five tries until I had it all done correctly. Ugh! Finally got started onto Black Cat.

I am starting a sal on Monday for the ToT Fairy. Anyone who would like to join us just go here: http://enchantedfabrics.yuku.com/topic/3803 we're stitching on Mondays. Here is my floss toss for her.

September Goals

I thought maybe I'd do better with my goals the more places that I posted them. I did pretty well in August. I finished WS2. I just have the wing to finish on 2 Hearts (But I'm frogging it like crazy & trying not to put it up.) I fixed my mistake on Luna Fairy & have been making some nice progress on her. So onto my September goals:

Regular Stitching:
1. Work on 2 Hearts (hopefully finish)
2. Work on Luna Fairy (be close to finishing by the end of month)
3. Start Believe In Dreams

SALs:
1. Work on Dawn
2. Start ToT Fairy

Monday August 31, 2009

Hello everyone. How was your weekend? I'm doing my weekly update. Hubby left this morning for his next out of town trip for work. They were going to Michigan so the drove instead of flying. (figured it would take them almost the same time to get through the airport security as it would just to drive.) I packed all of his OSU shirts he had as well. Unto my Cross Stitch.

I got a lot done on Two Hearts. All I have left is the wings on the one Crane. I pretty sure I'm going to leave the border off.

On Luna Fairy I ripped out what I had done (& frogged) on her chest so it's all lined up right. I've been flying on her since then.

Today I'm going back to Dawn for the week. I want to finish her up soon so I can move onto some other PR's that I have kitted up!

Workshop 2 HD!

I just put the last bead into WS2! I can now cross another off of my wip list! Back to Two Hearts Beating As One.
Here is a close up of the center:

Bear

We got a new puppy yesterday (for those of you that don't know). His name is Bear & we got him from our friends the Gerber's. (Their the ones that we coach baseball with, bowl with & visit with a lot.) We're not sure what breed(s) he is. But he is very loving, his tail never stops wagging, and the kids love him! Here's some pics.

The first on is Paul with Bear. The second is Maria laying back & chillin with Bear.
